Techcross was
selected for the large-scale government project to develop core materials,
parts, and equipment for water electrolysis on September 28. The project, conducted
by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, comprises 16 consortia and 4
sub-projects designed to localize water electrolysis technology, which is
necessary for producing green hydrogen. 14 billion KRW (13,890 million KRW) is
funded by the government on this project, and it will be implemented through 4
sub-projects for 52 months between September 2022 and December 2026, under the
title of “The Development of Mass-Production Technology and Stack of Core
Materials and Parts for Large-Area Water Electrolysis Core Materials and
Parts”.
Techcross takes
major charge of orchestrating the 4 component projects, and is assigned to a specific
task in particular, “Development of Diaphragm Membranes and Electrodes for
Large-area Alkaline Water Electrolysis”. Through this progress, Techcross aims
to internalize large-area separators and electrodes, which are core materials
for alkaline water electrolysis stacks and intends to reduce production costs
and acquire quality competitiveness to respond to fierce market competition, by
integrating relevant business vertically. Also, the project is expected to give
Techcross opportunities for active technical exchanges with organizations and
companies specialized in water electrolysis in Korea, which will help it
acquire related technologies.
An official of
the Central Research Institute at Techcross said, “We steadily prepared to win
the project from earlier this year, and our hard work is paid off. Through this
project, we will do our best to emerge as an important player in the domestic
green hydrogen water electrolysis industry while internalizing high-efficiency
and high-performance technologies.” |
