Ship Type : 317K VLCC
Model : Ex-ECS 5400 X 1set
TECHCROSS, a leader in the newly emerging market of ballast water treatment systems, has supplied ECS (Electro‐Cleen™ System) to a VLCC (Very Large Crude Oil Carrier). In April 2010, ECS was supplied to a 317,000 DWT Class VLCC being constructed at a Korea Shipyard. After installation, it was delivered to the shipowner at the end of Dec. 2010.
Even though many companies worldwide including TECHCROSS have developed BWTS equipment, this is the first time to apply BWTS to a VLCC Ship, once again proving the excellent technical capabilities of TECHCROSS.
Large type ships such as a VLCC need mass capacity ballast water and thus the ballast water treatment systems also must treat mass capacity. TECHCROSS has designed mass capacity ballast water treatment systems for VLCC installation through a combination of ECS models. In addition, for this 317K VLCC, they made room for ECS on the deck and designed all equipment as one unit enabling easier and faster installation and maintenance.
With ECS, TECHCROSS can respond with various solutions according to a ship's environment and regardless of the ship’s type.
TECHCROSS has already successfully installed the world's first explosion-proof ballast water treatment system, and now is firmly establishing its position as a world leader in the ballast water treatment system market by being the first in the industry to install ECS in a VLCC.
Park Kyu-Won, of TECHCROSS, said, "It is encouraging that the ECS was the first in the industry to be applied to the VLCC and it will be helpful to win contracts for various types of ships in the future”.
